About the event
Join Fergus the Forager for a fascinating morning exploring the woodland, grassland and other fungal habitats of Crowborough Warren Estate.
Drawing on more than 30 years of experience, Fergus will introduce you to the safe and sustainable identification and gathering of seasonal fungi. You’ll learn how to recognise edible species, avoid poisonous fungi and use identification keys with greater confidence.
The morning will also explore the many ways fungi can be used for food, preservation, medicine, natural dyes, ink and other traditional crafts. A selection of unusual mushroom products will be available to taste during the day.
Suitable for beginners and those with intermediate fungi knowledge.
Included for use during the event:
Gloves, baskets, mushroom identification keys and hand lenses.

Admission to our guided Foraging Morning with Fergus the Forager at Crowborough Warren Estate on Saturday 3rd October 2026, from 9.30am to approximately 2.00pm. Includes guided foraging, fungi identification, demonstrations, tastings and the use of gloves, baskets, mushroom identification keys and hand lenses.
